Plans for the 2009 celebrations are underway with nominations already having been invited for the Shire's annual citizens awards.
Twenty four years after being elected Chairman of the Parkes Australia Day Committee mercurial Stan Kingham continues to enjoy the leadership role.
Mr Kingham, now in his eighth decade, was returned unopposed at the annual meeting last Thursday night.
Secretary Michael Greenwood and Treasurer Kelly Hendry were also unopposed and Tim Keith replaces his older twin brother Ken as Vice Chairman.
Committee members include Ken Keith, June Barker, Barbara Weaver, Yvonne Hutton, Rhonda Redenbach, Kerrie Edwards and Bill Cooper with power to coopt.
