Parkes' newest tourism product, Welcome Cottage was officially opened on Saturday 6th September. Proprietors Rob and Jill Bird have worked tirelessly on developing the cottage on their property just out of town on the Welcome Road, with most of the work being carried out by themselves. "For years we have dreamt of operating a Bed and Breakfast, and we felt that now was the perfect time to establish this business" commented Jill. Peacefully set on 10 acres just south of town, the cottage is a brand new cosy retreat, finished in contemporary country décor, and is ideal for couples looking for a country getaway. The cottage comfortably sleeps 2 or 4 people, is fully self-contained and is well appointed with full kitchen facilities, a queen bedroom plus queen sofa bed in lounge, reverse cycle air conditioning, in-floor heating, a spacious bathroom including a 2 person spa, an LCD TV and DVD player and all the luxury touches, including robes. Guests are provided with a gourmet breakfast hamper to top their stay off. The views from the cottage are very serene and peaceful, particularly at sunset. "We ourselves have stayed at many lovely B&B's in our travels, providing us with the perfect research of what makes a comfortable and special place to stay. This cottage complements the existing Parkes tourism product, as we provide a different type of experience to what is already available".
