Aged Morning Tea Lunch
The Parkes Neighbourhood Centre and Parkes Library extend a warm welcome to all the aged residents of Parkes to join us for a Christmas morning tea.
10.30am Wednesday 9 December.
Transport will be provided to those who need it to bring you to the Library for some cake, chat and item borrowing.

CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS
Join local artists Jocelyn Moels and make and decorate a Christmas Tree for the Library.
When: Saturday, 28th November

Ages: 10 to 15 years of age
Bookings: Yes. Numbers are limited

2010 CountryLink Parkes Elvis Festival Omni Instruments Art Exhibition
6th to 10th January
Parkes Shire Library is hosting the 2010 Elvis Art Exhibition and would like to invite artists to exhibit their work in the Exhibition.

Theme: Artwork based on Elvis Presley or an Elvis song or movie.
Artwork invited: Paintings, drawings, collage, mosaics, sculptures and leadlight.
Entries Close: 21st December 2009. Please contact Parkes Library on library@parkes.nsw.gov.au or 6861 2309 for an entry form.
Prizes: Judged 1st Prize - $1,250 and People's Choice $750.

Where: Coventry Room, next to Parkes Library
Opening night: Wednesday 6th January, 6pm
Exhibition times: 7th & 8th January 10am - 5pm; 9th January 11am - 4pm; 10th January 11am - 2pm

FREE ONLINE TRAINING
Parkes Shire residents now have access to FREE Microsoft Office software training and training in using computers, the Internet and social networking sites.

Parkes Shire Library has purchased access to an online training solution - Dynamic Learning Online -www.learncomputing.net.au/onlinecourses/librarylogin.html 

Developed in Australia, Dynamic Learning Online's Office 2007, Windows Vista, and Introductory Computer Training website provides powerful, yet simple, online interactive training for users to understand and quickly master these new Microsoft products. It also includes Introductory Computer Training lessons assisting those people new to computers to more easily understand the new technology.

Members of Parkes Shire Library can access this training for FREE.

According to Library Manager Shellie Buckle the site is simple to use - "The training is provided through step-by-step modules, enabling you to learn at your own pace."

"The training can be accessed at Parkes, Peak Hill and Trundle libraries, and from any computer with Internet access, however you do need to be a member of Parkes Shire Library" said Shellie.

Joining Parkes Shire Library is free and simple. Completion of a membership form and proof of address and signature is all that is required.
