How has Water Billing Changed and how much will it cost?
Council has been investigating the need to reform its water supply pricing model for some time. The reforms were identified as necessary to ensure a more equitable pricing system (that is a user pays basis), to conserve water and to reduce costs by extending the economic useful life of Council's water infrastructure.
The Department of Local Government set compliance dates for water reform to ensure that Councils move to water pricing systems that eliminate hidden cross-subsidies. Councils decision to introduce a system of user pays for the supply of water from 1 July 2002 has been taken in light of these investigations.
Under a user pays system all assessments will be charged an availability charge calculated to cover the fixed costs associated with the operation of the water service and infrastructure replacement programs.
All water consumed is charged to the consumer at a rate calculated to cover variable costs associated with supplying the water to the property.

How Much Will it Cost Me?
The information contained in the cross reference tables below will help you to determine how much Council's the "User Pays" water system will cost you. The information is presented in three different cross reference tables showing the size of the meter across the page and consumption in kilolitres down the page.
If you have a meter and don't receive a pension rebate on your rates, use the Metered Properties cross reference table. If you receive a pension rebate, use the Metered Properties with Pension Rebate
table. If your property does not have a meter installed then use the Properties Without Meters
table.
To work out how much it will cost you, find your meter size across the top of the table and then move down to your average annual water consumption.
