Bushcare

Last modified: November 9, 2006 - 12:44 AM

Natural Heritage Trust NSW Bushcare Network has a new look webpage attached to the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) website. Bushcare started in 1997, when it was known as the Native Vegetation Initiative. Since then, the Commonwealth Government has invested over $50 million in NSW through Bushcare, resulting in the implementation of over 700 diverse environmental projects.

Over the last five years:

  • more than three million native plants have been planted.
  • more than 7000 kilometres of fences have been put up, protecting more than a million hectares of remnant vegetation from grazing by cows and sheep.

To find out more about this exciting project go to the Bushcare website at www.npws.nsw.gov.au/wildlife/bushcare.htm
